Back in the stone age (when the internet was steam powered),  we had half a dozen pages of content (one for each visitor). That's when we signed up for Commission Junction. CJ as it is lovingly known was one of the first of its kind offering performance based advertising on a Cost Per Click (CPC) basis. If someone clicked on a link...someone got paid.

Glory days indeed, but one doesn't have to be particularly devious to see that as a system it was open to abuse. According to their most recent press releases, the reason CJ no longer does CPC programs is because of a "shift in industry performance standards". For those cynics who read press releases as if they were foreign language films and just read the subtitles they (the cynics) might say it was because of rampant abuse. ....I just read press releases at face value.

For whatever reason, they have become extremely sensitive to breaches of procedure (although how it's possible to fraudulently buy something is beyond me). Today, CJ offers access to a few hundred advertising contracts that are Cost Per Sale (CPS) or Cost Per Lead (CPL) based. CPS has it's own issues, regardless of the broker you use and are covered elsewhere. 

Some CJ Cost Per Lead plans look a whole lot like Cost per Sale offerings 'dressed up pretty' so read the fine print about what constitutes a lead - But there are some little nuggets of gold in there, so it's worth the effort. 

Although some people feel that CJ has become a little anal retentive, it still remains an excellent and good hearted venture...and most importantly...still pays its bills on time.
